We are pleased to announce that the 2021 King’s Charcot Foot Reconstruction Symposium will be a joint event with the 7th Annual Conference of International Association of Diabetic Foot S

It is a great pleasure to welcome you to the 8th Symposium on ‘The Multidisciplinary and Surgical Reconstruction of Charcot Foot‘ to be held at King’s College  Hospital London  on June 24th and 25th 2022.

For the past few years, we have seen significant progress in the delivery of good diabetic foot care, largely due to the improvement in our understanding of the role of multidisciplinary care in achieving the highest possible standards.  However, the long-term prognosis for the individual living with a Charcot foot is poor and the lived experience is devastating.  The Charcot foot is often diagnosed too late with disastrous consequences for people with diabetes.

This two-day symposium will discuss the modern diagnosis of the Charcot Foot and focus on its surgical and podiatric management. It will also include the treatment of the infection and co-morbidities that are associated with the Charcot foot as well as the recently recognised complication of peripheral arterial disease in those presenting with the deformed Charcot foot. Due attention to infection, peripheral arterial disease and medical co-morbidities is a vital prelude for the eventual successful outcome of the surgical management of the Charcot foot.

The symposium will have a dedicated sessions on complex midfoot and hindfoot reconstruction, covering the advanced and proven surgical techniques and published outcomes including external and internal fixation techniques

The expert international faculty will share their personal experience as well as their reflections on current literature, national debates, documents from many sources and offer insight into established as well as new emerging techniques in managing the diabetic foot.

We very much look forward to welcoming you to London in June 2022

Prof. Venu Kavarthapu                                                         Prof. Michael Edmonds
